Mrs. Yvonne Strickland Farley, 88, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, December 19, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Blackshear, GA on August 11, 1935, she lived in Pierce County most of her life with the exception of living in North Carolina for nine years. Mrs. Farley had worked for King Edward Cigar as well as the Spatola Shoe Factory, Roses Department Store, and Swains Manufacturing where she would retire. She enjoyed making jewelry, doing puzzles, singing gospel music, making clothes for her children, and quilting. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Farley was a daughter of the late James Owen & Sallie Lois Crawford Strickland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reams Ivan Farley; a sister, Annie Laurah Morris Corbett; and all six of her brothers, Jack, Elijah Light, Archie Lee, D. B., Leroy, and Oscar Strickland.
Survivors include her children, Vonnie Wilson of Salisbury, NC, Debra (Donald) Sloan of Blackshear, Michelle (Roger) Daniels of Blackshear, Owen Farley of Waycross, and Rory Farley of California; a sister, Nancy Maxine (Wayne) Mincey of Killeen, TX; 11 grandchildren, Katie Rittenhouse, Kaleb Rittenhouse, Mikela (Matthew) Lawrence, Cheryl Daniels, Taylor Daniels, Kevin Wilson, Melissa Wilson, Chris (Christina) Thrift, Carey (Robert) Phillips, Joshua Farley, & Cody Durr; 11 great grandchildren, Masey Lawrence, Malachi Lawrence, Mason Lawrence, Owen Lambert, Alexis Lambert, Gunter Thrift, Rylee Thrift, Shyanne Ragan, Skyler Phillips, Shane Phillips, and Shelby Phillips; 2 great, great grandchildren, Rain Ragan and River Ragan; special nieces, Phyllis & Lois; a special nephew, Phillip; and several other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Farley will be held Thursday afternoon, December 21, 2023, at 2 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andy Peacock officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
