Woodson Dixon

Mr. Woodson Dixon, 80, of Blackshear, passed away Friday afternoon, November 29, 2024, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Mershon, GA on May 28, 1944, he had lived in Pierce County for most of his life.  He was self-employed as a farm-supply salesman with Woodson Dixon Chemical Company.  An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of the Fox Hunters Association as well as the Pierce County Hunting Club.  He was a member of Ward Memorial Church.

He was a son of the late Dock Franklin and Edith Bernice Monroe Dixon.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Dixon Thompson and stepdaughter, Shelly Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Howell Dixon of Blackshear; his children, David (Sue Ann) Dixon of Patterson, Cynthia (Olin) Lovett of Statesboro, and Angel (Kevin) Knowlton of Blackshear; his step-children, Helen Arnold and Link Smart, both of Blackshear; two sisters, Beverly Wall of Savannah and Berna (Jimmy) Hitson of Old Town, FL; two brothers, Franklin Dixon of San Antonio, TX, and Larry Dixon of Townsend, GA; 8 grandchildren, Ryan (Kristen) Dixon, Ethan (Banks) Lovett, Courtney (Justin) Devereaux, Blaine Lovett, Skylar (James) Arnold, Tyce (Mercedes) Lovett, Dixon Knowlton, and Emma Knowlton; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Dixon will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 2024, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Crosby officiating.

Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening, December 2, 2024, from 6 until 8 o’clock.
