William Elver Hodge

Mr. William Elver Hodge, 80, of Blackshear, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Patterson, GA on March 23, 1943, he had lived in Pierce County all his life.  William retired from Bamboo Shoe Factory and enjoyed playing the guitar, riding on motorcycles, and working on small engines.  He loved spending his time with his children and extended family members.  William was known for his kind, humble spirit.  Ephesians 4:2 – Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He was a son of the late Elver & Maude Foster Hodge.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Ivey Hodge; a daughter-in-law, Inez Hodge; his sister, Mary Dykes; and his brother, Marvin Hodge.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Hodge (Kerry Mixon) of Blackshear; his son, Dale Hodge of Blackshear; a brother-in-law, A. B. Dykes of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Nowell, Kenzi Cardwell, Zach (Summer) Cardwell, Robbie Norman, Lisa Nowell, and Jessie (April) Nowell; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for William will be held Friday afternoon, September 29, 2023, at 3:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel with Pastor R. B. Gaskins officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery.
