Mrs. Valera Sue Colley Shoemaker, 87, of Blackshear, passed away suddenly Tuesday evening, January 7, 2025, at her home in Blackshear.
Born in Blackshear, GA, on May 11, 1937, she was a 1955 graduate of Blackshear High School. After marrying, she lived and raised her family in Palm Beach County, FL, before moving back to Blackshear in the mid-1990s. She was the owner/operator of Bushore Shoemaker Associates, as well as a partner in Nita Bugs Antique Store. Mrs. Sue loved spending time and going shopping with her sisters. She also loved going to the river house, where she would spend her time reading and listening to music. An avid gardener, she loved working in her flower beds. Mrs. Sue attended First Baptist Church of Blackshear.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas Marion and Juanita Deloach Colley. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marian James, and both of her brothers, Ed Deloach and Ray Deloach.
Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Shoemaker of Charleston, SC; two sons, Butch (Sandra) Shoemaker of West Palm Beach, FL, and Mike (Patti) Shoemaker of Pickens, SC; two sisters, Ann Wall of Blackshear, and Bobbi Peacock of Alma; three grandchildren, Jason (Sayuri) Shoemaker, Wendy Shoemaker, and Nicholas (Olivia) Shoemaker; five great-grandchildren, Rina, Ren, Colsen, Hazel, and Rowen Shoemaker; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shoemaker will be held Saturday afternoon, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Peters officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, January 10, 2025, from 6 until 8 o’clock.
Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
