Thomas Jerry Smith

Mr. Thomas Jerry Smith, 69, of Bristol, passed away Wednesday evening, November 30, 2022, at the Bacon County Hospital.

Born in Waycross, GA on November 13, 1953, he had lived in Pierce County all his life.  Mr. Smith was a 1971 graduate of Bacon County High School and was a life-long farmer being the 2020 Georgia Centennial Farm Award recipient. His hobbies included farming and collecting toy tractors which he loved to show off.  Mr. Smith loved history and researching ancestry and talking to people.  He was very proud of his community and was always there to help others. He was a member of Martha Memorial Methodist Church.  

He was a son of the late Thomas Jefferd “T.J.” & Nora Mae Perry Smith.  He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Jimmie Sue & James Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Micki Brooks Smith of Bristol; his daughter and son-in-law, Ashley & Adrian Fletcher of Tifton; his sister, Jan (Greg) Murphy of Douglas; his brother, A.E. “Gene” (Janice) Smith of Albany; three sisters-in-law, Trish (Eddie) Horne of Guyton, Leigh (Greg) Lewis of Alma, and Robbie (Rickey) Taylor of Alma; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew and business partner, Brad Murphy of Patterson; his pet dogs, Gracie & Gencie; and several other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Saturday morning, December 3, 2022, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel with Rev. Tony Walsh and Rev. Joe Thigpen officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Martha Memorial Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Marty Hilton, Stacy Yeomans, Nathan Rowland, Corey Horne, Colyn Bass, and Curt Taylor.
