Thomas Woodrow "Tommy" Foster

Mr. Thomas Woodrow “Tommy” Foster, 77, of Patterson, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Blackshear, GA on January 8, 1948, he lived in Pierce County most of his life.  Mr. Foster was a 1966 graduate of Patterson High School and went on to graduate from Barber School.  He worked at several local Barber shops for a number of years before changing careers and going to work for Julie Hat in Patterson in their maintenance department.  Mr. Foster went on to retire from Waycross College where he had been the assistant director of maintenance.  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tending to flowers and, when he was younger, riding horses.  Mr. Foster loved to “tinker” and could build anything he set his mind to.  He was of the Baptist faith.  

He was a son of the late Woodrow Foster and Vera Durrance Foster.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton Foster and Fred Foster.

Survivors include his daughter, Julie Foster of Patterson; his two grandchildren, Zayne Cason and Vera Blake Foster; eight sisters, Betty (Jimmy) Herrin of Waycross, Yvonne (Keith) Smith of Greensboro, GA, Shirlene (Sam) Davis of Titusville, FL, Janice (Gwinnette) Aldridge of McRae; Carol Foster of Blackshear, Marilyn (Hunter) Hawkins of Clearwater, FL; Linda Foster of Blackshear, and Brenda (Bob) Dixon of Patterson; three brothers, Jimmy (Marie) Foster and Mike Foster all of Patterson, and Ronnie (Sandy) Foster of Alma; a sister-in-law, Brenda Foster of Brunswick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Foster will be held Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gwinnette Aldridge and Rev. Tim Rowell officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Beech, Terry Aldridge, Fred Foster, Blake Foster, Frank Foster, and Foster Dixon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Foster’s other nephews.
