Mr. Silas Lloyd Groover, 77, of Waycross, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at Memorial Satilla Health.
Born in Baxley, GA on March 29, 1947, he had lived in South Carolina for many years before moving to Pierce County in 2016. He had recently moved to Waycross. Mr. Groover was a US Army veteran. He was a retired truck driver, having driven all over the country throughout his career. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing.
He was a son of the late John Henry & Rosie Gertrude Griffis. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, JoAnn Jones, Elwanda Melton, and Velma Sosa; and both of his brothers, John McKee Groover and Wilbert Sloan.
Survivors include his son, Silas Lloyd Groover, II of Waycross; his daughter, Dollie Rouse of Blackshear; two sisters, Teresa Emmons of Blackshear and Sue Berry of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
As per Mr. Groover’s wishes, he will be buried at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. As he requested, there will be no public service.
