Mrs. Sherry Ann Cowart Smiley, 65, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2020, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Starke, FL on December 27, 1954, she had lived in Pierce County since 1982. Mrs. Smiley was a US Air Force Veteran and had worked in Human Resources at Satilla Regional Medical Center prior to working for the McKinney Center where she was currently the Human Resources Director. She enjoyed camping, reading, and playing the piano and watching tv. Mrs. Smiley was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was in the Young at Heart Sunday School class. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
She was a daughter of the late Johnny Jackson & Orene Padgett Cowart. She was also preceded in death by her infant sister and three brothers, Stephen, Jack, and Johnny Cowart.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, George L. Smiley of Blackshear; her son, Jason Smiley of Blackshear; her granddaughter, Kamryn Smiley; her brother, Michael (Betty) Cowart of Starke, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smiley will be held Friday morning, June 5, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
