Shawn Lee Smith

Mr. Shawn Lee Smith, 59 of Hoboken, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.

Born in Grinnell, Iowa on August 15, 1962, he had lived in Florida for many years before moving to Brantley County 27 years ago. Mr. Smith was the janitor at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken for many years where he was also a member. He loved the Lord and showed it daily by trying to be the best husband, dad, and grandfather that he could be. He was a true family man, a great listener, and was very humorous with his fantastic “dad” jokes. He so enjoyed bird watching with his granddaughter and was the type of man that anything good he experienced in life he wanted his family to get to experience it, too. Mr. Smith enjoyed working on guitars and playing with them with his sons. He also loved to dance with his girls. Mr. Smith loved the Dallas Cowboys and the tropics of the south.

He was a son of the late David Calvin & Helen Rhea Johnson Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Ronda Gail Dixon Smith of Hoboken; two daughters and sons-in-law, Destiny & Aaron Moore of Blackshear and Angel & John Mishoe of Brantley; two sons, Joshua Lee Smith of Brantley and Anthony “A.J.” Dixon of Brantley; a sister, Diane (Donald) Raines of Jacksonville; a brother, David “Shannon” (Evie) Smith of Jacksonville; a granddaughter, Laney Rhea Moore; a grandson on the way in February, Easton Mishoe; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Tuesday afternoon, November 23, 2021, at 3:00 o’clock at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Hoboken.

Interment will be in the Hoboken Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
