She was a daughter of the late Omer and Lizzie Sinclair Thornton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. Hugh Turner; her daughter, Sarah Joanne Turner; both of her sisters, Mary Lou Ammons and Annette Odum; and both of her brothers, Clyde Thornton and Albert Thornton.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Hugh (Denice) Turner and Phillip Andrew Turner, all of Blackshear; three grandchildren, James Hugh “Jay” (Christine Denise) Turner, Sarah Michelle (Jerry) Carver, and Gage Bray; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Madison Turner, Tristan Hugh Turner, Sarah Alexis (Brett Ashton) Adams, and Jeremiah Isaac Carver; a special friend, Abby Horne; her caregivers, Marie Carter and Laneshia Williams; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
