Mr. Ronald Charles “Ron” Harris, 78 of Waycross, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, at UF Health in Jacksonville.
Born in Waycross, GA on September 9, 1943, he had lived in Kissimmee, FL for many years before moving back to Ware County in 1996. Mr. Harris was retired from Rental World in Kissimmee where he had been a small engine repairman. He loved to work in his yards, enjoyed fishing, and could never pass up a garage sale or the chance to stop at a Goodwill Store. Mr. Harris was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and so loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Astoria Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late George Sylvester & Lovie A. Wildes Harris. He was also preceded in death by his son, Hank Harris; and two sisters, Mary Helen Rowland and Shirley Bonefant.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Norma Jean Epps Harris of Waycross; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda Harris of Brantley County and Merlene & Richard Crosby of Blackshear; four sisters, Faye Guinn of Gainesville, FL, Martha McCowen of Waycross, Betty (Lamar) Wildes of Brunswick, and Arlene Scott of Waycross; five brothers, Kenneth Harris, Johnny (Carolyn) Harris, Benny Harris, Jerry Harris, and Wayne Harris all of Waycross; 10 grandchildren, Daniel (Ashlee) Crosby, Creighton (Kayla) Davis, Kayla (Wesley) Howard, Jenny (Chance) Lanham, Rodney Harris, Joshua (Trish) Crosby, Karlie (Jimmy) Heatherly, Anthony (Katie) Crosby, Trenton Strickland, and Sydney Strickland; 19 great grandchildren; 2 honorary grandchildren, Jackson Lee & Drake Lee; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be held Thursday morning, September 30, 2021, at 11:00 o’clock at his home, 1901 Blackwell Street, Waycross.
The family will receive friends at the home immediately following the service.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
