Robert Archibald Buie, Sr.

Mr. Robert Archibald Buie, Sr., 91 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning, April 11, 2020, at his residence.
 
Born in Red Springs, NC on September 13, 1928, he had lived in Pierce County most of his life.  Mr. Buie was retired from CSX Transportation where he had been a welder.  He enjoyed fishing and tinkering on old cars but his favorite pastime had been playing golf.  Mr. Buie was one of the original members of Lakeview Golf Club and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
 
He was a son of the late Daniel Herbert & Leila Gladys Riggins Buie, Sr...  He was also preceded in death by all four of his sisters, Almeda Jacques, Sara Buie, Gladys “Boo” Burgsteiner, and Jean Deen; and two brothers, Daniel Herbert Buie, Jr. and Frank Stanley Buie, Sr.
 
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Equendial “Quen” McCrea Buie of Blackshear; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail & Sam Walker, Sr., and Elizabeth Dowling all of Blackshear; a son, Robert A. “Bobby” & Kay Buie, Jr. of Waycross; a brother, Jack (Carol) Buie of Atlanta; 2 brothers-in-law, Braswell Deen, Sr. of Atlanta & John L. McCrea of Blackshear; 10 grandchildren, Lealane (Brian) Sanders, Hannah (Kelly) Murray, Cassie (Nick) Berkemeier, Quincy (Chase) Burgess, Sam Walker, Jr., Thomas Dowling, Jr. (fiancé’, Taryn Cranford), Jessica (Chris) Clark, Hunter Buie, Bailey (Blake) James, and Franklin Boyett; 15 great grandchildren, Olivia, Owen, Ava, Claire, Julianna, James, John Daniel, Maren, Quill, Taylor, Gracie, Natalie, Audrey, Riley Quinn, and Elyse; special friends, John & Jane Bennett of Waycross; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
 
Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private graveside service for Mr. Buie on Thursday, April 16, 2020.
 
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
