Mr. Richard Ray Headley, 54, of Screven, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Norfolk, VA on April 1, 1970, he had lived in Norfolk prior to moving to our area thirty years ago. For the past nine years, Richard had been employed with Golden Isles Metal Fabricators, Inc. and Air Management System, Inc where he was known as a model employee. He was a true master of his craft and was very proud of his work. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed working on his property and being out at his pond. He was a truly honorable man and was always a man of his word. Richard was a wonderful son and brother and was well loved by everyone. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Ervin Headley.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Willie & Rachel Jane Ray Leggett; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Monty & Machelle Headley and Michael & Karen Headley all of North Carolina; two nephews, Schuyler Headley and Landon Headley both of North Carolina; his pet dog who was like a child to him, Tink; his fiancé, Christine Pridgen of Screven; a special family friend, Kay Hance of Virginia; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Richard will be held Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Burkhardt officiating.
Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Toby Claxton, Bryan Twiggs, Marc Johnson, Justin Carter, Josh Stone, and Jason Craig.
Memorials may be made to any local animal rescue the giver chooses.
