Rev. Jerry Adron Martin, Sr., 67 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2021 – his 67th birthday – while doing something he loved, picking up his grandchildren from school.
Born in Blackshear, GA on November 16, 1954, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life. Rev. Martin was retired from United Egg where he had been a truck driver. At the time of his passing he was the current pastor at Salem Church in Ware County. Rev. Martin loved cutting grass and put many miles on his lawn mowers over the years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and loved spending time with all of his family. Rev. Martin was a very kind and compassionate man who dearly loved the Lord and made sure to call friends and family at night to check on them before bedtime.
He was a son of the late Madison Markson & Ocie Viola Melton Martin. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Aldridge and Vielee Hester; and six brothers, Marshall, Marvin, Dennis, Melvin, Davis, and Hilton.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Erica Faye “German” Tyre Martin of Blackshear; his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Jerrie Ann Martin of Blackshear; a sister, Helen Logan of Blackshear; two brothers, Ray Martin and Wayne “Shorty” Martin both of Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Marie Martin of Blackshear; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Hester of Blackshear; 4 grandchildren, Jacob Martin and triplets, Anna, Bennett, and Coleman Martin; special nieces and nephews who were like his children, Tommy Jones, Paige (Scott) Sweat, Rachael “Lecky” Whiddon, Raymond (Heather) Staines, and Mark (Chasity) Staines; and several other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Funeral services for Rev. Martin will be held Saturday morning, November 20, 2021, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 until 8 o’clock.
