Mrs. Norma Jean Diddle Thomas, 72 of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening, March 11, 2020, at her son’s residence following a lengthy illness.

Born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on December 9, 1947, she had lived in Ware County prior to moving to Pierce County 30 years ago.  Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and loved to cook and go to yard sales.  She was an active member of Living River Church of God and loved being with her church family.  Known as “Memaw”, she drove the church van picking up children to take them to church for many years and helped with the Clothes Closet ministry. Mrs. Thomas always wanted to feel needed and her benevolent nature was witnessed by many people she would take food to from her own pantry.

She was a daughter of the late Ralph & Helen Wilson Diddle.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Eugene Thomas; and by a sister, Pat Schultz.

Survivors include her daughter, Darlene (Joey) Marcus of Greer, SC; three sons, Kenny Sirmans (Fiance’, Brenda Vickery) and Kevin (Helen) Sirmons all of Blackshear, and Lloyd (Wendy) Sirmons of Waycross; two step-daughters, Kristal (Bill) Gowan and Candy Sirmons all of Blackshear; a sister, Linda Weatherspoon of Arkansas; three brothers, Jimmy Diddle, Tommy Diddle, and Richard Diddle all of Arkansas; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
