Ms. Nellie Kate King Smith, 80 of Blackshear, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020, at Harborview – Pierce County.
Born in Blackshear, GA on May 25, 1940, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. Ms. Nellie had worked as a sitter for Waycross Sitter Service. She was Walkerville Baptist Church’s longest serving member and was so very dedicated to her church and her church family. She loved them as much as they loved her and she never missed an opportunity to give a hug to everyone she could. Ms. Nellie loved cooking and spending time with her family.
She was a daughter of the late James Barney & Hester Maryann Mulkey King. She was also preceded in death by all three of her sisters, Madge Bennett, Addie Faye King, and Shirley King; and her brother, Jerry King.
Survivors include her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene “Bubba” & Marie Smith of Mershon and Jerry Smith of Waycross; a brother-in-law, Willie Bennett of St. Marys; 3 grandchildren, Alisha (Evan) Hyers, Heather (Michael) Raulerson, and Taylor Smith; 3 great grandchildren, Greyson Raulerson, Tucker Raulerson, and Parker Hyers; two nieces, Sherry (Steve) Zimerle of St. Marys and Petresa Bennett of Blackshear; a nephew, Dusty Bennett of St. Marys; and several other relatives and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Nellie will be held Sunday afternoon, August 23, 2020, at 3:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
