Mrs. Monica Charline Morgan Davis, 62, of Blackshear, passed away early Saturday morning, January 13, 2024, at her residence.
Born in Blackshear, GA on February 8, 1961, she lived in Pierce County all her life. She was a cheerleader in her younger days, before attending and graduating from Blackshear High School in 1979, where she was a member of the band, playing the clarinet. She took classes at Waycross Junior College before going to work for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, from which she retired. Charline loved to travel, enjoying trips to the mountains as well as going on cruises. She loved watching movies, especially scary ones, all the while enjoying a good piece of candy, with Red Hots and Lemon Drops being her favorites. On March 8, 1980, she married the love of her life, Kenny Davis, and they shared 43 years together before her passing. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was a daughter of the late Ancil Morgan. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy Davis; and her step-father, John Clifford Simmons, Sr.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Kenneth Charles “Kenny” Davis of Blackshear; her mother, Lois Carter Simmons of Blackshear; 2 brothers, Robert (Mary) Morgan and Tommy Morgan, all of Blackshear; a step-sister, Chanda (Mark) Riggs of Sparta, NC; 2 step-brothers, John Clifford (Gail) Simmons, Jr. of Crestview, FL, and Wayne (Gia) Simmons of Lutz, FL; 2 grandchildren, Kade Scott and Makenzie Scott; 1 great-grandchild, Luke Andrew West; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Daniel and the Rev. Jimmy Thrift officiating.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, January 16, 2024, from 6 until 8 o’clock.
Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.
