Mrs. Mollie Faye Hickox Johnson, 87, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Lakeland, GA on October 20, 1935, she had lived in Ohio for many years before moving to Blackshear in 2000. Mrs. Johnson had been a homemaker before going to work as the florist at Kroger in Urbana, OH where she retired in 1998. She loved tending to flowers and baking. While living in Ohio, she enjoyed farm life and taking care of all of their animals. Mrs. Johnson had been a member of The Homemakers Club as well as the Garden Club both in Cable, OH as well as volunteered at Mercy Memorial in Urbana, OH in their Twig Program. She had been a member of the Living Waters Church of God in Marysville, OH before moving to Blackshear and joining New Life Church. She will be remembered as a lady who loved life and never took it too seriously.
She was a daughter of the late Matthew Eugene & Nancy Jane Futch Hickox. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Rommel; all of her siblings and their spouses, Opal (Harold) Godwin, Saidee (Bill) Fussell, Naoma (Joseph) Whiteman, Eugene (Lois) Hickox, and Jimpsey “Pal” Hickox; a niece, Marie Kay Shuman; and two nephews, Jack (Mary) Nix and Nathan Godwin.
Survivors include her loving husband of 69 years, Eugene Franklin Johnson of Blackshear; her daughter, Vickie Rommel of Blackshear; her two grandchildren, Tiffany (Michael) Altman and Kyle (Shawna) Carter; 2 great grandchildren, Daniel Flowers and Savannah Flowers; her niece’s husband, Larry Shuman of Douglasville; her nephew’s wife, Barbara Godwin of Cartersville; and several other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, at 1:00 o’clock from the Blackshear Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 11:30 until 12:30 Friday.
