Mr. Melvin Vierra, 75, of Blackshear, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at his residence in Blackshear.
Born in Waialua, HI on August 30, 1949, he lived in Broxton prior to moving to Pierce County two years ago. Mr. Vierra grew up in Hawaii and California prior to enlisting in the US Air Force serving during Vietnam and retiring as a Major. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he went to work as a civilian contractor with the military. Mr. Vierra loved being in the south and traveling especially to the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. He enjoyed watching old movies, listening to classic rock and country music, and going dancing. Mr. Vierra was a selfless, giving man with a good sense of humor. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a son of the late Manal & Margaret Vierra. He was also preceded in death by his fiance’, Lorrie Hudson; and a sister, Margaret Pearl Vierra.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Clyde & Vivian Vierra of Las Vegas, NV; his fiance’s sons, Michael Hudson and Matthew Hudson; two step grandchildren, Logan and Adalan; a sister, Melva Jean Vierra of Hawaii; a brother, Manal (Deborah) Vierra, Jr. of Trego, MT; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
