Mrs. Melba Lee Dixon, 82, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 9, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Heath in Waycross.
Born in Waycross, GA on June 22, 1943, she lived in Pierce county most of her adult life. Mrs. Dixon received her LPN degree and would go on to further her education by receiving her RN degree. She would spend most of her nursing career working for Memorial Hospital/Satilla Regional Medical Center but later went to work in the home health field. Mrs. Dixon loved to crochet and cross stitch, read her Bible, and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a former member of Hacklebarney Baptist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Dixon was well loved by her family, friends, and community and her loss will be greatly felt by them all.
She was a daughter of the Pleasant Matthew & Rachel Ardelia Albritton Lee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Fredrick Dixon, Sr.; a son-in-law, Paul Masterson; a grandchild, Lee Padgett; and all six of her sisters, Cynthia Jacobs, Bonnie Carver, Naomi Sanderson, Peggy Dixon, Eunice Haymans, and infant sister Lee.
Survivors include her three daughters, Donna Masterson of Metter, DeAnna Dixon of Georgia, and Dawn Dixon of Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Benji & Dixie Dixon, Jr. of Blackshear; 10 grandchildren, Amanda (Gary) McLaurin, Elizabeth (Robert) Jackson, Rachel Padgett, Jacob Parshall, BreAnna (Jay) Moore, Thomas Rawlins, Shelby Dixon, Jake Westberry, Maryanne Westberry, and Abby Westberry; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service for Mrs. Dixon will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Chancey officiating.
The family will be receiving friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
