Mr. Maurice Tex O’Banion, 68 of Patterson, passed away early Saturday morning, April 30, 2022, at Memorial Satilla Health – Waycross.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on August 5, 1953, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. Mr. O’Banion had been a welder/pipe fitter the majority of his life having worked for Fleur Daniels Construction prior to going to work for the Georgia Department of Transportation where he would retire. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish and when he wasn’t doing either he was watching it on the television! Mr. O’Banion even knew the feeding/moving times of wildlife. He also loved classic cars and trucks and was a member of the Offerman Church of God.
He was the son of the late Terry Hugh O’Banion and was also preceded in death by a sister, Diane Head.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Douberly O’Banion of Patterson; his daughter, Sarah (Michael) Chancey of Patterson; three sons, Eric O’Banion (special friend, David Grandy) of Jacksonville, Michael (Chessica) O’Banion of Odum, and Terry (Sarah) O’Banion of Waynesville; his mother, Adeline Thornton O’Banion of Offerman; his sister, Gail (Darryl) Ammons of Offerman; 2 grandchildren, Mariana O’Banion and Chrissie O’Banion; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mr. O’Banion will be held Thursday morning, May 5, 2022, at 11:00 o’clock from the Offerman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
