Mrs. Mary Linn Brantley Kimbrell, 80 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday evening, December 8, 2020, at Memorial Satilla Health Systems in Waycross.
Born in Waycross, GA on May 19, 1940, she graduated from Blackshear High School in 1958. After attending nursing school in Augusta, Mrs. Kimbrell moved to Greencastle, PA before returning to Blackshear in 1971. She went to work for The Blackshear Times in their sales department followed by employment at the Pierce County Courthouse in the Commissioner’s office. She also worked for a few years as the Administrative Assistant for the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce and was even the State Chamber Employee of the Year recipient in 1994. Following that, Mrs. Kimbrell worked as the assistant manager at Lakeview Golf Club for several years. She loved reading, playing golf – she even had a hole-in-one once, and taking beach trips with her family as well as trips with the Yaya’s. She was a member of the Blackshear Presbyterian Church.
She was a daughter of the late George Daniel Brantley, Sr. and Mary Rogers Brantley Mattson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kimbrell; a brother, George Brantley, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Sylvia Brantley.
Survivors include her children, Rob (Shelby) Allen of Leesburg, GA, Terry Allen (Darryl) Little of Gainesville, GA, Scott Allen (Karen Albanese) of Augusta, GA, and Maggie Allen (Ryan) Herring of Blackshear; two sisters, Jane Brantley (Sonny) Bowen and Betty Brantley all of Blackshear; two brothers, Ed Brantley of Savannah, GA and Duncan (Nancy) Brantley of McDonough, GA; a sister-in-law, Helen Brantley of Jacksonville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Troy Anderson, Patrick Little, Daniel Little, Caroline Herring, David Herring, and Matthew Herring; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mrs. Kimbrell will be held Sunday afternoon, December 13, 2020, at 2 o’clock from the Blackshear Cemetery.
Memorialization is by cremation.
The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
