Mary Wanell "Nell" (Crawford) Dixon

Ms. Mary Wanell “Nell” Crawford Dixon, 70 of Blackshear, passed away Monday afternoon, January 20, 2020, at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon.
 
Born in Patterson, GA on March 8, 1949, she lived in Pierce County all of her life.  Ms. Dixon was a Patterson High School graduate and worked as a florist with the Blackshear Flower and Gift Shop as well as the former Shamrock Flower Shop prior to working at Gibson Animal Clinic.  She loved being with her family and was a big animal lover.  Ms. Dixon also loved to read her Bible and enjoyed working in her yard planting flowers and tending to them.  Ms. Dixon had been a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church prior to moving her membership to the Blackshear Church of God where she remained active until her health began to fail. 
 
She was a daughter of the late Frank & Nora Hyers Crawford.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Franklin Crawford.
 
Survivors include her three daughters, Lisa (Tommy) Peacock of Hawkinsville, Dana (Steve) Hodgins of Vidalia, and Brandi Todd of Statesboro; three sisters, Alene Crawford, Joan (Paul) Lyle, and Lawanna (John) Sumner all of Jacksonville, FL; her grandson, Jordan Peacock of Warner Robins; her former husband’s: Wallace Boatright of Mershon – the father of her three daughters, and Califf Dixon of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
     
Funeral services for Ms. Dixon will be held Saturday afternoon at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on January 25, 2020 at 12:00 o’clock.
 
Interment will be at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
 
Visitation for Ms. Dixon will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
 
The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ms. Dixon’s memory to Rick & Nancy Allmon, 2988 Midway Church Road, Blackshear, GA  31516, to help with animal rescue.
