Mrs. Mary Magdalene Cook Bryant, 99, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2020, at the Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Bryant was born December 27, 1920, in Patterson, and had lived all of her life in Pierce County. Mary was an excellent cook and she loved her flowers. She worked as a Pink Lady for many years at the old Pierce County Nursing Home. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Blackshear, where she worked with the Hands to Work sewing group and was a member of the Baptist Women’s Missionary Union. She loved all her children and grandchildren and she will be dearly missed.
She was a daughter of the late Alston and Bessie Ivey Cook, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jefferson Bryant, Sr.; all her brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, Mack Parr, Sr.
Survivors include her two daughters, Wannelle Gillis of Waycross, and Yvonne Parr of Blackshear; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles J. (Deborah) Bryant, Jr. of Blackshear; her 8 grandchildren, Renee G. (Bryan) Beverly, Rebecca (Ike) Blanchard, Rachelle (Brent) Howling, James L. (Brandy) Gillis, Hamp Parr, Jeffrey (Jenny) Parr, Charles J. (Lauren) Bryant, III, and Corinda Jean (Jacob) John; 15 Great Grandchildren; 11 Great, Great Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bryant will be held Tuesday afternoon, October 13, 2020, at 2 o’clock from the First Baptist Church of Blackshear.
Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
