Mr. Marvin Lawton Walker, 79 of Patterson, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2020, at his residence.
Born in Patterson, GA on January 20, 1941, he had lived in Pierce County all of his life. Mr. Walker was retired from UPS and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. His hobby was fishing and boy did he love it! He and his sons shared many happy memories of fishing trips they took together over the years; however, cleaning the boat when they got back was not one of them. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by them all.
He was a son of the late Abraham Lincoln Walker, Jr. & Evelyn Lee Walker Johns. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry M. Walker, who was probably waiting on his dad with a fishing pole in his hand; his sister, Gladys Clark; and all three of his brothers, Rev. Julian Walker, James Walker, and Gene Walker.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vonnice Boyette Walker of Patterson; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Lewis & Angie Walker of White Oak, Danny & Bryany Walker of Patterson, and Andrea Walker of Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Ann Townsend of Waycross; 6 grandchildren, Ben (Britny) Walker, Wesley (Cierra) Walker, Casey (John) Hunt, Jesse Walker, Dow Walker, and Caleb Walker; 11 great grandchildren, Riley, Jensen, Braylee, Jamie, Julie, Ella, Lawton, Todd, Hannah, Tyler, and Tristan; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Due to COVID-19, the family will have a private graveside service for Mr. Walker on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the Mill Creek Cemetery.
