Marjorie "Margie" Jeraldine (Johnson) Funderburk

Mrs. Marjorie Jeraldine “Margie” Johnson Funderburk, 91 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, March 8, 2022, at Harborview -Pierce County Nursing Home.

Born in LaFayette County, FL on October 2, 1930, she had lived in Waldo, FL prior to moving to Pierce County.  Mrs. Funderburk had been the secretary at West Side Baptist Church in St. Marys where she had also been a charter member.  She had been very active while at West Side Baptist including being a Sunday school teacher.  Mrs. Funderburk later went to work as a city clerk for the City of St. Marys and worked her way up to Finance Director for which she retired in 1988. After her retirement, she and her late husband, Al, moved to Waldo, FL.  Mrs. Funderburk joined Waldo Baptist Church where she became the ministry director to the homebound for over 16 years. They later moved to Blackshear where they joined Emmanuel Baptist Church.  Mrs. Funderburk was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by them all. 

She was a daughter of the late William Johnnie & Lillie Ann Allen Johnson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Aldreth Elvoye “Al” Funderburk; a son, Bruce Funderburk; 2 grandsons, Clint Funderburk and David Funderburk; and all of her sisters and brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Hancock, husband Buford, of Blackshear; three sons, Steve Funderburk, wife Nancy, of Blackshear, Jeff Funderburk, wife Debbie, of Davenport, FL, and Terry Funderburk of Blackshear; a daughter-in-law, Sarah Funderburk of Kingsland; a Sister-in-law, Toma-Jean Daley husband Larry of Blackshear; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Funderburk will be held Friday afternoon, March 11, 2022, at 3 o’clock from Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Stone and Rev. Lynn Harris officiating.

Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Funderburk, Jeff Funderburk, Terry Funderburk, Buford Hancock, Lance Funderburk, and Kirby Malone.

The family kindly requests members of the Ron Spell Sunday School Class to be honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the church by 2:30.
