Mrs. Margarite Louise Baucom Rewis, 80 of Bristol, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Southeast Health Systems in Brunswick.
Born in Hazlehurst, GA on July 1, 1941, she had lived in Pierce and Appling Counties all of her life. Ms. Rewis was retired from the Pierce County Board of Education where she had been a school bus driver for 27 years. During those 27 years she had been very devoted to all of her “bus children”. She was a caring and giving person who never met a stranger and who would help anyone she could. That caring and giving person was also tough and strong having been very active with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Rewis was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
She was a daughter of the late John Allen & Viola Ava’Grace Poole Baucom. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julius “Jack” B. Rewis; two sons, Bobby Herrington, Jr. and Nathan Herrington; 3 grandchildren; and all of her siblings.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca & Perry Smith of Soperton and Katie & Tony Moreno of Blackshear; two sons, Johnny M. Herrington of Baxley and Steve "Brad" Rewis of Sacramento, CA; 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mrs. Rewis will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 12:30 pm from the Martha Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 to 12 on Tuesday.
