Mrs. Margaret Ann Jacobs Allen, 87 of Augusta, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Born in Blackshear, GA on January 9, 1934, she had lived in Blackshear for many years before moving to Augusta 14 years ago. Mrs. Allen had worked as a scrub technician in the operating room at the former Pierce County Hospital for several years prior to going to work at Baptist Village as a CNA. While at Baptist Village, she also worked in Physical Therapy and retired from there after 29 years. Mrs. Allen had been a member of First Baptist Church, Blackshear, where she had taught Sunday school, kept the nursery, taught GA’s, as well as sang in the adult choir. Since living in Augusta she had been a member of Open Door Baptist Church. In her later years, she enjoyed traveling to do missionary work, fishing, and working in her garden. Mrs. Allen loved her children and her grandchildren dearly and will be missed by them all.
She was the only daughter of the late Charlie & Sally Tyre Jacobs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Allen; and two sons, Archie Allen and Diver Allen.
Survivors include three daughters, Sheryl (Michael) Causey of Conway, SC, Betty Calvert (William Morrison) of Panama City, FL, and Sallie (R.B.) Thomas of Augusta; two sons, Richard (Cindy) Allen of Patterson and Joseph (Danna) Allen of Blackshear; two daughters-in-law, Diane Allen of Blackshear and Donna Allen of Acworth; 13 grandchildren, David (Kathleen) Causey, Michele Causey, Robert (Stacy) Burns, Roxy (Robert) Simmons, Rozanna (David) Maxwell, Laura (Jeremy) Ballou, B. J. Boyd, Cody Allen, Ashley (Caleb) Bryan, Richie (Kelly) Allen, Jamie (Justin) Roberts, Joseph (Courtney) Allen, and Amanda Allen (Matt Deen); 30 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be held Saturday afternoon, March 20, 2021, at 3:00 from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the Enon Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Allen will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
