Mrs. Madge Marie Pickens Thigpen, 48 of Blackshear, passed away Monday evening, July 18, 2022, at her residence.
Born in Charleston, WV on November 24, 1973, she had lived in Chicago prior to moving to Pierce County in the early 90’s. Marie was a Licensed Practical Nurse currently working for Harborview – Jesup but had also worked at the Pierce County Nursing Home for a few years. She had voice that you could hear before you saw her and was known for her bright red lipstick. Marie dearly loved her children, especially her granddaughter, Raegen. She was a member of Ward Memorial Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Ann Pickens; and by a brother, Eric Pickens.
Survivors include her husband, David J. Thigpen, Sr. of Blackshear; two daughters, Karissa Thigpen (Chris Evans) of Atlanta and Kiara Thigpen of Blackshear; a son, D.J. Thigpen of Blackshear; her parents, Billy & Lois Pickens, Jr. of Blackshear; two brothers, Bill Pickens and David (April) Pickens all of Blackshear; her granddaughter, Raegen Thigpen; her father and mother-in-law, Rev. Joe & Shirley Thigpen of Blackshear; her other “son”, Chief (her Boston Terrier); her grandpuppy, Woodrow; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Marie will be held Saturday morning, July 23, 2022, at 11 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Thigpen officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be David Pickens, Bill Pickens, Chris Evans, Addison Pickens, Thomas Pickens, and D.J. Thigpen.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Harborview – Jesup. Please meet at the funeral home by 10:30 Saturday morning.
