Mrs. Lita Elaine Whitfield Strickland, 63 of Blackshear, passed away Friday evening, July 29, 2022, at her residence.
Born in Jacksonville, FL on July 29, 1959, she had lived in Pierce and Ware counties for 3 years. In the 80’s and 90’s, she was the lead singer for Welston Crossing, a country music band. During this time, she produced a self-titled album, “Lita Fields.” Mrs. Strickland was a fierce friend and never met a stranger. She will always be known for her dedication to her family and being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was a daughter of the late George Douglas and Nancy Ruth Jones Whitfield.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Daniel Strickland; a daughter, Kandice Fields of Milledgeville; a son, William Carlyle Fields of Pearson; 3 stepdaughters, Shelly Strickland, Amber Strickland, and Kayla Strickland all of Blackshear; a stepson, Jared Strickland of Detroit, MI; a brother, Wayne Douglas (Ella) Whitfield of Cleveland; a special friend, Teresa Evener of Blackshear; 14 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service for Mrs. Strickland will be held at a later date.
Memorialization is by cremation.
