Mr. Linton Howard, Sr., 89, of Blackshear, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at his residence after an extended illness.
Born in Blackshear on June 3, 1931, he lived all his life in Waycross and Blackshear. Mr. Howard was retired from CSX. He enjoyed carpentry, and had built many things for his neighbors. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he attended the Emory Hampton Sunday School Class. He would gladly do any woodworking and repairs that needed to be done at the church. Linton loved to fish, but he dearly loved spending time with his great grandchildren. His family will miss him greatly.
He was a son of the late Arthur Zadok and Clifford Walker Howard. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hall Howard; his daughter, Dorinda Strickland; two sons Curtis Howard and Linton Howard, Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis (Robert) Dixon of Waycross; a brother, Jack Howard of Waycross; 4 grandchildren, Raymond (Kisha) Howard, Barbara Dixon, Walker Howard, and Hunter Strickland; 3 great grandchildren, Sarahbeth Howard, Abbygale Howard, and Peyton Dixon; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services for Mr. Howard will be held Friday morning, February 5, 2021, at 10 o’clock.
Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, February 4, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home.
