Linda Elliston Obituary

**  Please note that the visitation time for Mrs. Elliston is 11 until 12, not 11 until 4.  We apologize for the error.

Mrs. Linda Jeanette Lee Elliston, 71 of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning, September 20, 2021, at Harborview – Pierce County Nursing Home.

Born in Waycross, GA on December 21, 1949, she had lived in Ware and Pierce Counties most of her life.  Mrs. Elliston was a Waycross High School graduate and furthered her education at Valdosta State where she received her degree in Education.  She retired from the Pierce County Board of Education after having taught at Grady Street School for a number of years.  Mrs. Elliston loved to write and her favorite place to visit was Fernandina Beach.  She probably bought every piece of jewelry ever shown on the Home Shopping Network and QVC and her passion for her cats would cause one to call her the Crazy Cat Lady.  No one enjoyed the holidays more than her for she so loved getting her family together and cooking for everyone.  Mrs. Elliston was a member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear.

She was a daughter of the late George E. & Betty Claire McGirt Lee.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Arthur “Steve” Elliston; her son, George Michael McGahee; and her daughter, Laura Lee McGahee.

Survivors include her four grandchildren, Lindey McGahee, Michael Thomas, Jr., George M. McGahee, III (fiancé, Taija), and Kabreynna McGahee; 3 great grandchildren, Emerson McGahee, Kylan Souza, and Aubreyella Moody; her sister, Janie Lee Fields of Fernandina Beach, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will have a visitation for Mrs. Elliston on Thursday, September 23, 2021, beginning at 11:00 o’clock at the funeral home.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
