Mr. Leonard Ray DePratter, 68, of Blackshear, passed away Monday morning, September 1, 2025, at HCA Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
Born June 5, 1957, in Blackshear, Georgia, Ray was a 1975 graduate of Blackshear High School. He worked as a meat cutter for Red & White Grocery Store and later for Mickey’s Grocery prior to going into the construction business where he would retire from the Allen Owens Construction Company.
Ray loved to fish, do yardwork, and watch westerns but being with his family was by far his favorite thing to do. He was of the Baptist faith.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold McCool DePratter and Nellie Marlene Lee DePratter Harris (Sammy).
Survivors include his daughter, Marcy Lewis of Blackshear; four sons, Anthony (Amanda) DePratter of Winokur, Eric (Kristy) DePratter of Vidalia, Kolby DePratter of New Orleans, LA, and Wren (Jennie) DePratter of Blackshear; a sister, Arlene (Neil) Jones of Blackshear; a brother, Gary (Bobbie) DePratter of Alma; grandchildren, Wednesday (James) Lewis-Sabatier, Natalie Lewis, Holton DePratter, Rebecca Lewis, Gad DePratter, Rilie DePratter, Hadi DePratter, Ellery DePratter, Gunnar Wilson, Kiah DePratter, Hudson DePratter, Lexi DePratter, and Stark DePratter; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service for Ray will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 o’clock at Bridge Church with Joey Davis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Memorialization is by cremation.
