Mrs. Lawrenna Jean Freeman Dixon, 81 of Blackshear, passed away Thursday evening, January 7, 2021, at Memorial Satilla Health.
Born in Waycross, GA on May 26, 1939, she had lived in Jacksonville, FL for many years before moving to Blackshear in 2003. Mrs. Dixon ran a school bus route for Dehart Busing Company for several years while in Jacksonville. She had many loves – her late husband, her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren – and so enjoyed her time with them. Mrs. Dixon was a devoted member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. She was also a former member of New Berlin Road Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Over the years, trips to the mountains with family, going to gospel sings, and cooking for family and friends brought her so much joy. Mrs. Dixon was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
She was a daughter of the late Eugene Tyler & Lottie Mizell Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Melvin Dixon; a granddaughter, Rachel Traxler; and a sister, Mary Lillian Stubbing.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Dixon of Blackshear and Toni Weber and Tonda (Daniel) Kelley all of Jacksonville; a son, Joel (Amy) Dixon of Blackshear; two sisters, Martha Deen of Waycross and Frances (Estes) Altman of Jasper, FL; a brother, Danny (Faye) Freeman of Waycross; a brother-in-law, Hank Stubbing of Waycross; 8 grandchildren, Danielle (Curt) Henderson, Tara Watson, Tiffany (Brandon) Shinn, Julian Kelley, Jacquelyn Kelley, Chelsea (Garrett) Wilson, Justin Dixon, and Halle Dixon; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Per her request, a private family burial will be held at the Enon Cemetery.
