Katie Gayle Holmes

Katie Gayle Holmes from Blackshear, Georgia passed away from brain cancer (glioblastoma), on October 21, 2022, at the home of relatives.  This same cancer caused Katie’s mother’s death in November 2020.

Katie has lived in several areas of the United States, including Michigan, Wyoming, Tennessee, and several areas of Georgia, including Nahunta, Blackshear, Midway, Pooler, Alanhurst, and Waycross.  Through her travels, she has made many life-long friends.

Katie was born in Waycross Georgia on May 15, 1988, to the late Renee’ Crosby Holmes.    As a 2006 graduate of Brantley County High School, she continued her education in Computer Science at Waycross College and at College of America.  Katie started a business in computer design known as Kayzdesigns.    She is known as a passionate lifelong Gamer, with associations with many other gamers throughout the US.  Her favorite games were World of Warcraft and Ark. She worked as a desk clerk at Comfort Inn hotel in Blackshear and an office supervisor at UPS in Savannah.

Katie was preceded in death by her mother, Renee’ Crosby Holmes, of Blackshear, grandparents, Ralph and Libby Crosby, of Waycross, a sister, Tracie Renee’ Holmes Fairchild of Pensacola, Florida, and her precious fur baby, Jett Holmes. 

She is survived by grandfather, Kenneth Curt Holmes (Deb) of Walled Lake, Michigan; nephew, Tanner Fairchild (Alexis) and a niece, Reiley Fairchild, both of Blackshear; aunt: Gayle Crosby Taylor (David) and uncle; Richard Crosby (Debbie) of Waycross; cousins: Richie Crosby (Merlene), Bengi Crosby (Tonya), Casey Crosby Braddy (Ken), Sam Taylor, and Toby Taylor (Veronica), and Katie’s Super cat, Mr. Butters.

Katie will be cremated, and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Her ashes will be placed in a memorial vault in Pensacola, Florida, alongside her mother’s and sister’s ashes.
