Juanita McDuffie Obituary

Mrs. Juanita Jo “Baby Doll” Slack McDuffie, 82 of Blackshear, passed away Saturday morning, December 11, 2021, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.

Born in Booneville, MS on February 2, 1939, she had lived in Pierce County since 1969.  Mrs. McDuffie was retired from Julie Hat where she had been a seamstress for 17 years.  She had spent the last several years being a homemaker.  Mrs. McDuffie loved flowers, sewing, doing all kinds of crafts, working on crossword puzzles, decorating cakes (when she was a little younger), and even riding motorcycles (before her health began to decline).  She was a faithful member of Walkerville Baptist Church where she was in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

She was a daughter of the late Wilburn Arlis & Lenora Irene Smith Slack.  She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Allison Wade “Al” McDuffie; a grandchild, Bonita Gail Dial; her sister, Wilma Lee Rogers; and by two brothers, Wilburn Slack and Delbert Ray Slack.

Survivors include her daughter and her partner, Dana Dial & Darlene Howell of Blackshear; three sons, Jimmy & Wanda McDuffie of Clyo and Gary & Brenda McDuffie and Terry McDuffie all of Blackshear; a brother, Edwin Monroe (Sandy) Slack of Lakeland, FL; 11 grandchildren, Caleb (Kadie) McDuffie, Sam McDuffie (Clint Easton), Amanda (Keith) Womack, Tanya (Phillip) Roberson, Michael (Brittany) McDuffie, Garrett McDuffie (Kayla Peterson), Anthony (Nikki) Howell, Tracey Stone, Alisha (Jamie) Mixon, Ashlee McDuffie, and Cheyenne McDuffie (Christian Peacock); 21 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; special friends, her Walkerville Baptist Church family and the Moore Family; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. McDuffie will be held Monday afternoon, December 13, 2021, at 3:00 o’clock from the Walkerville Baptist Church.

Interment will be in the Walkerville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family kindly requests members of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class as well as Effingham County Sheriff’s Office employees to serve as honorary pallbearers.  Please meet at the church by 2:30 on Monday afternoon.
