Mrs. Juanita Irene Dixon Boatright, 83, formerly of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 3, 2024, at Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Born in Blackshear, GA on January 28, 1941, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life before moving to Yulee earlier this year to enjoy her retirement. She was a graduate of the Class of 1959 from Blackshear High School. She had worked many years at the Farm Bureau, but then later went to work for Walmart where she would retire after 20 years of service. Mrs. Boatright loved baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed going camping over the years. In her spare time, she most often enjoyed peace and quiet while sewing & crocheting. Over the years she was known for always having an open door for any stray cats, dogs, or kids that needed a place to stay. Mrs. Juanita never turned down the chance to dance, mostly square dancing. Gardening was another true passion of hers over the years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Blackshear.
She was a daughter of the late Ransom Floyd & Jessie Adel Robson Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Major Thomas “Bootsie” Boatright; her son, David O’Neal, Jr.; three sisters, Eleanor Louise Dixon, Mary Margaret Dixon, and a baby infant sister Dixon; and a brother, William Stanley “Bill” Dixon.
Survivors include her daughter, Tammy O’Neal of Yulee, FL; 3 grandchildren, Chris (Nealie) O’Neal, Dustin (Meg) O’Neal, and David O’Neal III; 5 great-grandchildren, Jase O’Neal, Cade O’Neal, Raife O’Neal, Raylon O’Neal, and Reid O’Neal; a daughter-in-law, Regina Raye O’Neal of Blackshear; 2 sisters, Bonnie Dixon Lewis of Fernandina Beach, FL and Brenda Dixon Scott of Blackshear; a brother, Travis (Elizabeth) Dixon of Cumming, Ga; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
