Mrs. Josephine Lois “Jo” Gill Floyd, 86, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2020, at her residence.
Born in Patterson, February 20, 1934, Mrs. Floyd lived and raised her family in Fernandina Beach and returned to Pierce County, after their retirement from Nassau County School Board, where she has lived for the last 31 years. Jo enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. She loved to play Scrabble and watch Jeopardy. She was an avid reader and was an amazing cook. She was of the Baptist faith. Jo had an unbelievable love for her family.
She was a daughter of the late Daniel Robert and Ethel Elma Little Gill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Riley Eugene Floyd, Sr.; a son, Lewis Jackson Harris, Jr.; a son-in-law, Richard Ralston; a grandchild, Seth Michael Floyd; a great grandchild, Shelby Michelle Stevens; and six deceased siblings, Sarah Dyal, Nolan Gill, Elbert Gill, Gerald Gill, Dan Gill, Linwood Gill and John D. Gill.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Belinda Jo (Steve) Adams of Blackshear, Lynnette (Berkley) Shields of Aiken, SC; five sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene (Terri) Floyd of Martinsville, VA, Donnie (Cindy) Floyd, David (Michelle) Floyd all of Blackshear, Michael (Ede) Floyd of Fernandina Beach, Timothy (Kimberly) Floyd of Middleburg, FL; a sister, Eleanor Melton of Blackshear; four brothers, Robert (Brenda) Gill, James Theron (Linda) Gill, Franklin D. “Buck” (Wanda) Gill, and Ray (Glenda) Gill all of Blackshear; 20 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren,; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Floyd will be held Wednesday morning, November 18, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock, from the graveside.
Interment will be in Enon Cemetery.
