Joseph Leslie Brice, Jr. of Blackshear, Georgia, fondly known as “Joe”, passed from this life on the morning of January 9, 2021. Joe is survived by his Mother and Father, Joe and Sandra Brice, Brother Jason (Beth) Brice, Sister Kelley Brice Byrd, Nephews Mitchell (Taylor) Brice, Andrew Brice, Nieces Ansley Brice, Molly Brice, Morgan Brice and Braelyn Nipper. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Mary Lee and Winston Kicklighter, as well as Lannis and Frances Thomas. There are several aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and close friends too numerous to name. His beloved dog “Lyndon”, who he referred to as “son”.
His kindness, generosity and integrity touched everyone who knew him, even many who never met him. Countless friends, co-workers, customers, vendors, store clerks, restaurant servers, and golf pro shop employees could attest to Joe’s humorous and energetic presence.
He was an alumnus of Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, where he was an honor graduate with a degree in Forestry. When traveling through Tifton, he would stop by occasionally to connect with his Professors. He was so proud that his two nephews chose ABAC for their college education.
Joe loved his work family, Triple H Specialty Company of Hazlehurst, Georgia. The employees, customers, and vendors were family he chose for himself.
A man of simple pleasures, he could be seen riding his golf cart around the neighborhoods or his lawn mower around his yard with country, rap, all kinds of music blasting. Sharing food with friends, family and neighbors cooked on his “Pit Boss” grill put many smiles on his face.
He loved the outdoors: fishing, turkey hunting, golfing, and horseback riding. He was named a Special Police of Mounted Posse and was honored to serve.
He was connected to St. Johns UMC and served as youth leader for Blackshear Presbyterian Church for several years. He enjoyed taking his youth group to SaddleUp Therapeutic Riding to mend fences and clean stalls. He also took them to Montreat, NC for Senior High Youth Conferences. Joe loved children and young people.
His greatest joy was being “Uncle Joe”, sharing his treasure selflessly to surprise his nieces and nephews.
