Mr. Jimmy Ray Odam, 76, of Blackshear, passed away late Thursday evening, December 29, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
Born in Piedmont, AL on March 19, 1946, he had lived in Blackshear since 2019. Mr. Odam served in the US Air Force and went on to retire from CSX Transportation as the Assistant Division Manager for the Louisville (KY) Division after 31 years of service. Over the years his career had taken him from Alabama, to Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky. He was a faithful member of the Hog-N-Bones Breakfast Club and always enjoyed visiting with his friends there. Mr. Odam attended Faith Christian Fellowship.
He was a son of the late Robert Royce & Lillian Odell Kesler Odam. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Pottinger Odam; a sister, Linda Tuten; and a brother, Gary Wayne Odam.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mynette & David Williams of Blackshear; a son, Shannon Ray Odam of Kennesaw; step-daughters, Shannon Noele Thore and Tracy Lane Pastlewait both of Kentucky; a sister, Kelly Sowell of Norman Park; a brother, Bob (Kathleen) Odam of Hoboken; his former wife and mother of his children, Mary Odam of Blackshear; 7 grandchildren, Laney Williams, Jackson Williams, Carson Odam, Marlow Odam, Matthew Troy Childress, II, Savannah Noele Childress, and Brennan Scott Hayes; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Odam will be held Saturday afternoon, January 7, 2023, at 12 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Visitation for Mr. Odam will be held in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the High Bluff Cemetery.
The family kindly requests members of the Hog-N-Bones Breakfast Club to serve as honorary pallbearers. Please meet at the funeral home chapel by 11:30 on Saturday.
