Jimmy Norman Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Floyd Norman, 74 of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL.

Born in Screven, GA on July 7, 1946, he had lived in Pierce County most of his life.  He was a retired truck driver having started with Pet Dairy then went to work at Thom’s Transport where he worked for 35 years.  He loved truck driving, fishing, and watching westerns and wrestling. He was of the Baptist faith.   

He was a son of the late Farley Lamar Norman and Essie Mae Aspinwall Thomas.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Marie Melton Norman; a great grandson, Emory Pierce Norman; both of his sisters, Gracie Turner and Betty Jean Salazar; two brothers, Grady Norman and Buddy Norman; and a half brother, Talmadge Norman.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Evener of Blackshear; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary Floyd & Paula Norman of Blackshear; two half sisters, Wanda Westberry and Barbara Watson both of Blackshear; an adoptive brother, Robbie Norman of Blackshear; 6 grandchildren, Hank Norman, Hunter (Tiffany) Norman, Cheyenne Barber, Shelly (Kenny) Dixon, Amber Strickland, and Kayla Strickland (Brian Harbuck); 9 great grandchildren, Emilie Strickland, Edward Strickland, Isaiah Scott, Bailie Scott, Alyssa Strickland, Zeb Norman, Levi Norman, Remington Norman, and Kingsley Norman; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Norman will be held Monday morning, December 28, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Jordan Cemetery in Ware County.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing guidelines and the use of facemasks are required.  Unfortunately, due to the situation, hugging, shaking hands, and any other physical contact is highly discouraged.
