Mr. Jimmy Lawton Carter, 71 of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 at residence.
Born in Alma, GA on June 15, 1950, he had lived in Jacksonville, FL for many years before moving to Blackshear fifteen years ago. Mr. Carter was a retired truck driver having driven for Centurion Auto Logistics. He loved trucking, watching wrestling and western movies, fishing, and hunting. A devout family man, Mr. Carter loved them dearly – especially his Mae – and so enjoyed and looked forward to family outings. He was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord.
He was the son of the late J. W. & Evellee Stiles Cothern. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, April Nicole Carter; and two step-sons, Phillip Luther Lyons and Dempsey Ray Ellis, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Dean Branch Carter of Blackshear; two step-sons, Alex Lee Lyons and Gary Lee (Cheryl) Ellis all of Blackshear; a sister, Alesia D. Stiles of Jacksonville; three sisters-in-law, Jeanette Rogers of Blackshear, Susie (Jerry) Moody of Mershon, and Nancy (Roger) Brooks of Hoboken; 6 grandchildren, Ethan Ellis, Leyland Ellis, Cheyenne Lyons, Veridy Ellis, Zena Ellis, and Eason Ellis; 1 great grandchild, Ohana Riddle; best friends, Amanda Murray and Obediah Strickland of Blackshear, Lori (Kevin) Wise of York, PA, and Gary (Barbara) Bullard of Patterson; his pet dogs, Crank, Penny, and Reba Mae; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will have a memorial service for Mr. Carter at a later date.
Memorialization is by cremation.
