Mrs. Jillene Strickland Middleton, 66, of Blackshear, passed away early Monday morning, January 27, 2025, at Harborview Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Waycross, GA on March 16, 1958, she lived in Brunswick for several years before returning to Pierce County in 2023. Jill was a 1976 graduate of Blackshear High School and would go on to receive her BS in Nursing. Throughout her 40 years career as a nurse, she had the privilege to work as a traveling nurse as well as working in Brunswick at the hospital and finally with Hospice once she moved back to Blackshear. She loved spending time with her family and she and her late husband, Steven Edwin “Steve” Middleton, enjoyed camping with many of their friends from Brunswick over the years as well. She was a member of the Blackshear First United Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Carswell Talmadge & Carolyn Ayers Strickland. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey “Jeff” Strickland; a brother, Jerry Strickland; and a niece, Emma Strickland.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Justin & Jenny Strickland of Blackshear, Summer Greene of Gray, and Dempsey & Amanda Herrin of Guyton; three great nephews, Jon, Julian, and Oliver Strickland; two sisters-in-law, Lynn Strickland and Wanda Strickland both of Blackshear; and several other relatives and friends.
The family will have a memorial service honoring Jill’s life at a later date.
Memorialization is by cremation.
