Jeanette Carol Godwin Wetherington, 78 of Blackshear, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020, at the Bayview Nursing Home, Nahunta.
Born in Blackshear, GA on July 22, 1942, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life. She had a great faith, was a gifted Bible teacher, and prayer warrior. Carol spent many years in service to her Lord and Savior at Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was a member and worked as their church secretary for 30 years. She coordinated the Children’s department for many years, loved to sing and play the piano, and was a member of the choir. Mrs. Wetherington loved to read and spend time with her family. She will be greatly missed.
She was the daughter of the late J. C. and Iris Lewis Godwin. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Godwin.
Survivors include her daughter and Son-in-law, Sherri (Richard) Robson of Blackshear; her son, Butch Wetherington of Prescott Valley, AZ; a brother, Mike (Kay) Godwin of Blackshear; six grandchildren, Joshua (Malayna) Wetherington, Michael (Lacy) Robson, Jonathan Robson, Trey Wetherington, Devon Wetherington, and Jonna Jellison; three great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wetherington will be held Friday morning, November 13, 2020, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Wetherington will be held at the chapel one hour prior to the funeral.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Bridge Community Church, 419 Main Street, Blackshear, GA 31516.
Due to COVID-19, the family requests that face masks be worn while attending the services.
