Mrs. Janice Marie Strickland Herrin, 70 of Blackshear, passed away early Friday morning, July 29, 2022, at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX.
Born in Waycross, GA on January 12, 1952, she had lived in Pierce and Ware counties all her life. Mrs. Herrin was a homemaker who loved spending time with friends and baking with her grandchildren. She was also very active in her in her church, Truth Tabernacle in Blackshear.
She was a daughter of the late Hershal Strickland and Mary Ruth Brown Arnold. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Clarence Arnold; a son, Philip Herrin; and a sister, Doris Floyd.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Lavone Herrin of Blackshear; a daughter, Elisabeth (Brandon) Carter of Bastrop, TX; a son, Paul (Leah) Herrin of Blackshear; two sisters, Jane Welch of Homerville and Kathy Mathis of Ray City; two brothers, Wesley (Sandra) Strickland, Jr. of Waycross and James “Jim” Strickland of Dupont; 4 grandchildren, Brooke Herrin, Carly Herrin, Isabelle Carter, and Wyatt Carter; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Herrin will be held Saturday morning, August 6, 2022, at 11:00 o'clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Wayne County.
Visitation for Mrs. Herrin will be held Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
