James Nelson Crews

Mr. James Nelson Crews, 81 of Patterson, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the Harborview Nursing Home in Blackshear.

Born in Screven, GA on August 5, 1941, he had lived in Pierce County all his life. Mr. Crews was a Patterson High School graduate and worked in construction for most of his life. He was a workaholic and loved animals, especially dogs. Mr. Crews was a member of New Life Assembly of God in Blackshear.

He was a son of the late Alvin Ralston and Dessie Lee Moody Crews.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jackie Stephens Crews of Patterson; his son, Van “Freddie” (Melanie) Crews of Waycross; a sister, Latrelle (Jimmy) Hall of Patterson; four brothers, Lawton (Sandra) Crews of Waycross, Robert Crews of Jesup, David Crews of Blackshear, and Lee Crews of Patterson; two grandchildren, Van Fredrick (Casey) Crews, Jr. and Reva Marie (Jeff) Turner; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Crews will be held Sunday afternoon, December 18, 2022, at 2:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Visitation for Mr. Crews will be held in the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
