Mr. James Alton "Jimmy" Aspinwall, 79 of Patterson, passed away Tuesday evening, October 18, 2022, at Outer Banks Hospital in North Carolina.
Born in Tyrone, GA on February 16, 1943, he had lived in Pierce County most of his life. Mr. Aspinwall, also known as “Bobo,” was proud to serve the U.S. Navy for over 13 years as an electrician on nuclear submarines. He was also part of the founding team for the Georgia Quick Start program and later retired as an independent electrical contractor. Mr. Aspinwall enjoyed doing woodwork of all kinds—especially furniture and birdhouses, traveling to “explore the country,” attending auctions, playing Bridge and crossword puzzles online, and debating scripture passages with friends. He was a member of the Patterson Masonic lodge. He was a philosopher, a problem solver, and an inventor; he was always dreaming up new “contraptions” and searching for solutions that would make life easier for the people around him. He was constantly working on at least one plan in the back of his mind and would never give up on finding the right answer. He was a deeply devoted husband and father whose strong faith served as a foundation for all parts of his life.
He was a son of the late Alton and Mina Ophelia Smith Aspinwall of Offerman.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Davis Roberson Aspinwall of Patterson; a daughter, Jo Ellen Aspinwall of Elizabeth City, NC; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Shanna (Brian) Chesser of Patterson; a sister, Ruth Johnson of Fayetteville; a nephew, Greg (Robin) Johnson of Fayetteville; three great nieces & nephews, Megan Johnson Coney of Tallahassee, FL, Kaitlyn Johnson of Charleston, SC, and Ryan Johnson of Texas; three great, great nieces & nephews, Ella, Landon, and Logan Coney; and many loving cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
