Inez Riggins Obituary

Ms. Inez Lee Riggins, 91 of Blackshear, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at her granddaughter’s residence.

Born in Blackshear, GA on August 22, 1929, she had lived in Pierce County most of her life.  Ms. Riggins had worked for the former Pierce Trading Company for 18 years before going to work at Clough-Pearson Funeral Home – now Pearson-Dial Funeral Home – as our receptionist and retiring after 42 years of dedicated service.  She had also done babysitting for numerous family members over the years.  Ms. Riggins was a member of First Baptist Church where she was in the Alert Sunday school class.  She had enjoyed working in her yard as well as sewing and crocheting.  For many years she had made countless numbers of clothes, blankets, and kitchen towels for friends and family but her number one hobby was her job.  She was a very dedicated employee to the funeral home and the families that they served.

She was a daughter of the late James Earic & Ether O’Quinn Lee.  She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lottie Lee Howell; all four of her brothers, Leaster Lee, W. Emory Lee, John P. Lee, and Everette Lee; and four brothers-in-law, Marcus Holland, Delmor Haynes, Arnold DePratter, and Sammy Harris.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Ragsdale Steuver of Blackshear; her two granddaughters, Jennifer (Joe) Caldwell of Knoxville, TN and Stephanie (Hugh) Carter of Blackshear; her 4 precious great grandchildren, Laura Michelle Caldwell, Isabella Marie “Izzy” Caldwell, Jordan Frey Carter, and Abbigail Rose Carter; three sisters, Eugenia “Jeanie” Haynes of Waycross, Marlene Harris of Blackshear, and Amy L. Holland of Richmond Hill; her sister-in-law, Debbie Lee of Blackshear; her caregiver, Melissa Thigpen of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
