Mr. Hubert Wasteen Crawford, 90, of Sumter, SC, formerly of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC.
Born in Patterson, GA on August 20, 1932, he had lived in Sumter, SC for the past three years. Mr. Crawford served in the US Army during the Korea conflict. He would go on to retire as a bus driver for Greyhound Lines, Inc after 20 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, doing string arts, and farming. He also enjoyed watching all kinds of sports including, the Pierce County Bears, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mr. Crawford was a faithful member of both the First Church of the Nazarene in Waycross and the Calvary Nazarene Church in Sumter, SC.
He was a son of the late Jessie Irvin and Elsie Lorine Harris Crawford. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jearline Luke Crawford; his son-in-law, Don Reynolds; a grandson, Justin Reynolds; a sister, Clara Kimbrell; a brother, Paul Crawford, and two brothers-in-law, Morris Henderson and R.O. Kimbrell.
Survivors include his daughter, Kay Reynolds of Jacksonville, FL; his son, Alan (Jennifer) Crawford of Sumter, SC; a sister, Naomi Henderson of Waycross; two brothers, Robert (Karen) Crawford of Blackshear and Wayne (Teresa) Crawford of Waycross; three grandchildren, Hope (Edgar) Hernandez, Faith (Scott) Sims-McGinley, and Zachery (Sara) Crawford; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Crawford will be held Monday morning, January 16, 2023, at 11:00 o’clock from the First Church of the Nazarene in Waycross.
Visitation for Mr. Crawford will be held Sunday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Blackshear City Cemetery.
