Howard Bishop "Peter" Jones

Mr. Howard Bishop "Peter" Jones, 76 of Mershon, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Alma, GA on July 5, 1945, he had lived in Bacon & Pierce Counties all of his life. Mr. Jones was a 1963 graduate of Bacon County High School. He had worked on farms as well as the Blackshear Stockyard all throughout his life.  He had also worked at the Fleetwood Trailer Plant for several years.   He enjoyed talking about cows, rambling around, hunting and fishing.  Mr. Jones never met a stranger and loved to pick on everyone. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Mershon Baptist. Mr. Jones also enjoyed attending Antioch Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents the late George & Ora Lee Boatright Jones; one sister, Glenda Sue Mattox; and both of his brothers, Spencer Jones, and Jerry Jones.  

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Eunice Crosby Jones of Mershon; one daughter, Dana (Stan) Robson of Mershon; one son, Jerome Jones (Brenda Kay Lartz) of Patterson; 3 grandchildren, Kristen Jones (Michael Pittman), Sarah Jones, and Peyton Robson; one great grandchild, Adalynn Pittman; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held Wednesday morning, September 15, 2021, at 11:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Interment will be in the Bristol Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. Jones will be held at the funeral home chapel one hour prior to the service.
